Pearson Silent Auction raised $5000

Thank-you for your generous donations, both in item donations and financially at our annual Silent Auction last night! With your help, we raised $5000 for Pearson Community Coop Nursery School. The West Jet ticket raffle was a huge hit.

Every year we hold a silent auction before the November Annual Meeting. It's a super way to donate to a great cause and get some Christmas shopping done at the same time!

Big thanks for making a huge dent in our fundraising targets for the year!

Diggers, Graters and Rollers Visit Pearson Nursery School

Ah, the allure of construction vehicles! Our Pearson nursery school friends love to play with and talk about diggers, scoopers and dump trucks.

Imagine the looks on the faces of the kids in our classes when the real live diggers came to rip up the pavement in the playground??

We're getting new pavement in the playground so our bikes and scooters have a smoother ride on our sidewalk around the play structure and sand area. Thanks to great fundraising efforts from past and present parents, the board passed the motion to upgrade the pavement out back. It needed an overhaul and the kids will enjoy playing on the new surface.

However, this week, we're indoors during outside time since our play area is full of construction crews. There are a few noses being pressed up against the glass watching the progress in earnest (and that's not just Mrs. Wielhouwer!!).

Good thing we have lots and lots of trucks to play with inside in our sand table and on the carpet. There is lots of Vrooooom-ing inside and outside this week!

Pearson Nursery School takes Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Our Pearson preschool children were counting down the days until our field trip to Frootogo Farms! A great local pumpkin farm in Waterdown perfect for our pumpkin adventure!

Once the children arrived (parents dropped off at the farm) our Farmer friend led us around the back for a bumpy wagon ride around the farm. Then the wagon dropped us off in the middle of the pumpkin field and as a class we chose one giant pumpkin for our classroom!

Next we went to the barn for a great puppet show and to pick out our very own mini pumpkins to bring home.

This was a terrific field trip that tied in nicely to our fall and Thanksgiving themes we have been discussing in the classroom in October.  Next week, our book of the week  is the Big Pumpkin and we know our preschool friends will be able to tell us all about the BIG pumpkins they touched and saw at the farm!

At Pearson, field trips are included in your nursery school fees and we're proud to plan educational and fun adventures outside of the classroom together as a school.
