Big Sarah's Little Boots

This week at Pearson Community Co-op Nursery School, our kids are reading 'Big Sarah's Little Boots'. Sarah loves her little yellow rain boots - but what happens when they no longer fit her growing feet?

This sweet story reminds our children that while you outgrow some things, there are always new and exciting things to try and love.

In the classroom this week, we are learning about recycling with some fun, interactive demonstrations. Check back soon for photos of this and other classroom adventures!

Walking Through the Jungle

Hello again, Pearson Parents! As we gear up for another busy week at school and in our homes, please enjoy this video featuring our current book (and song) of the week at Pearson Community Co-op Nursery School - 'Walking Through the Jungle':

(Is there a children's song that Fred Penner HASN'T recorded? We think 'no'.)

There is a lot happening in the weeks to come, including our General Meeting on May 14th as well as our annual family picnic on May 31st - more details on that will be coming soon. We hope to see you all there - it's sure to be a great day, and a wonderful way to get ready to welcome summer, which is right around the corner.

Thanks, as always, for reading - check back soon, and have a fantastic week!

Pete the Cat & Rainbow Fish

If your child has been rocking out at home, this may be why: last week's featured story was Pete the Cat! Pete is pretty groovy, as you can see...

This week, our children are reading Rainbow Fish. This award-winning book by Marcus Pfister is all about being yourself and not blending in with the crowd - a wonderful lesson for our kids, and a fun way for them to build confidence in themselves.

Please remember that RAINBOW DAY is later this week - check your calendars and be sure to send your kids in as many bright colours as possible!

Thanks again for reading, and enjoy the warm spring air!

There are lots of fun things coming up at Pearson in the coming weeks - please remember to check your April calendar for details. Have a great week - here's hoping for sunny days!

Welcome April!

Hello, Pearson parents! It's a new month and a new week, and that means a new featured book: Duck on a Bike.

This cute story tells the tale of a duck who lives on a farm and has a wild idea - he wants to ride a bike! He wiggles and wobbles and looks sort of silly, but none of that matters because he has plenty of fun. The other farm animals aren't exactly impressed by his new skill at first, but that all changes when they see a group of kids racing along with duck. We hope your children enjoyed decorating their own yellow ducks with tissue paper at the craft table at school - and please remember, it's yellow day at school later this week!

Thanks as always for reading - check back soon!

As March Flies By...

Hello again, Pearson parents!

Well, it may be hard to believe, but winter is over and it's officially spring. We know that it may not seem real, what with the never-ending snow and ice (not to mention the frigid temperatures...the indoor days...the countless layers of hoodies and snow pants and mittens...) but yes, on paper, it is almost April. SPRING IS HERE! And with March flying by, we can only continue to hope that spring will TRULY be in the air sometime soon.

Munsch Month has been a huge hit with our kids - 'The Paper Bag Princess', 'We Share Everything' and 'Mmm, Cookies' are a few of many Munsch tales that have been shared in the classroom, along with a lot of laughs. Have you seen a few Munsch-themed crafts on your child's art shelf lately, too? Our children had a blast making paper bag princesses of their own, as well as other fun projects.

Looking back on the past month, one highlight was our bowling field trip days. Here are a few pictures of the fun had at Roseland Bowl -

Thanks for checking in - enjoy the rest of your week, and don't forget to send your kids to school with CRAZY HAIR!

It's Munsch Month at Pearson!

Doesn't everyone have a favourite Robert Munsch book, either from reading to their kids or from their own childhood? Were you into The Paper Bag Princess, a Mortimer kind of guy, or more of a Murmel Murmel Murmel type? This month, Pearson Community Co-op Nursery School is celebrating the works of Robert Munsch! Are these books already a favourite at home? Let us know which titles your kids are into - they might end up hearing them in class one day!

It's going to be another cold week, but teachers and parents alike are hoping for outdoors time - please remember to dress your children appropriately!

We had an amazing couple of days at the bowling alley - stay tuned for photos from this very fun field trip!
