Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a perfect nursery school story

One of Pearson's favourite literacy themed books is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. The rhythmic cadence of the words make it easy to read out loud and the mischief the letters get into make it a fun story. It's the perfect circletime book to engage young preschoolers with.

Not only is this a fabulous book but it's built in with a great literacy theme that's simple to build on in the classroom. Each letter is represented in the story which provides numerous opportunities for additional learning!

Our preschool friends were busy painting palm trees that replicated the famous "coconut tree" in the story.

Our felt "coconut tree" is a terrific learning resource for reenacting the story and practicing letter recognition. This activity got a lot of classroom use from curious students this week.

What a great book of the week! If you have the book at home, read it together and use it as a tool to ask your child about what we learned this week.

Digging For Dinosaurs

Preschoolers love Dinosaurs! And digging for dinos? Even better!

Pearson changed our sand to a fun purple shade, it's a dinosaurs favourite colour you know.... and it drew in major interest from the children. In all 4 classeses everyone wanted to excavate the dinos from the sand and play longer - such fun!

Pearson Nursery School loves to learn about colours

Our Pearson Nursery School friends love to explore with colour and this week's book of the week "White Rabbit's Color Book" is a great tie in to both our love of bright colours and Easter.

We tied in the theme with creative arts and colour mixing - so much fun!! Each child was given an outline of a bunny and told to create colours on the page - we had an array of colours and rainbows at the creative table.
