Monitors, bearded dragons, chameleons and geckos!

Welcome Reptile Rob!
We can't wait to see all the interesting reptiles you bring to our classes this week!

Reptiles have scales, have dry skin, breathe air and are cold-blooded.
Did you know that reptiles have been on earth for 315 million years?
Reptiles are even older than dinosaurs!

Book of the Week: The Very Lonely Firefly

In this week's Book of the Week, The Very Lonely Firefly by beloved children's author Eric Carle, a lonely firefly goes off in search of friends. He follows every flicker of light he sees only to find the lights are only lanterns, owls' eyes, or headlights—not companions.

Your child will relate to the lonely firefly's search for friends like himself and will rejoice when he finds his niche, a whole group of fireflies literally blinking all over the page.

Book of the Week: Big Sarah’s Little Boots

Sarah loves her yellow boots, but they just won’t fit anymore. No amount of stretching will make them big again, and a disappointed Sarah must choose new boots.

This week’s Book of the Week, Big Sarah’s Little Boots, written by Paulette Bourgeois and illustrated by Brenda Clark, tells an endearing story about facing and happily resolving a familiar childhood dilemma.

Read the book with your big kid today.

Book of the Week: Over in the Meadow

Spring is blooming and it’s time to head back outdoors and say hello to nature. Reading this week’s Book of the Week, Over in the Meadow, is a wonderful way to start!

Susan Reed's catchy adaptation of this traditional English song explores all kinds of creatures who live over in the meadow. Your child will explore the meadows, and the furry mice, bumpy toads, and other wildlife in the story.

This Week at Pearson: Show & Share Day!

The time has come once again for one of the children's favourite special days. This Thursday & Friday is Show & Share day! Show & Share is a great way to develop preschoolers' social, emotional and language skills as the children learn to use descriptive language, practice listening (and sitting still!) and sharing their special objects with others. It can boost self-esteem, instill confidence in children in speaking in front of others and helps them learn to communicate their thoughts and feelings in words. It also helps kids learn patience, taking turns and using encouraging, positive and kinds words. Show & Share can also strengthen friendships or lead to new friendships as children who are interested in or curious about the special object ask to know more about it.

Watch the video below to see Mickey and his friends have some show and share fun while they learn and discover all about different shapes! Happy Show & Share day!
